FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where does my certification work?
A:

Your National Lifesaving & Aquatics Lifeguard certification is valid in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland.

Q: Do I need to bring lunch?
A:

Yes, you should bring lunch to your course. Often there are not nearby resteraunts and you will not have time to get out to go get lunch. Bring a big lunch, bottled water and snacks for throughout the day. The courses are strenuous and you will be hungry.

Q: What if my course is done early?
A:

Your instructor will let you know in advance if he or she thinks that you may be finished before or after your scheduled time. This way you can set up transportation if needed.

Q: What happens if I fail the pre-course?
A:

If you fail the pre-course, you will not be able to participate in any of the skills sessions for the remainder of the class.  You may however practice your skills on your own and come back to any of our later scheduled classes and try again.

Q: If I fail the pre-course, is my payment returned?
A:

Yes.  If you pay for a class and can not pass the pre-course, your money will be refunded.  You may attend as many pre-courses as you like.

Q: How do I order copies of my certifications?
A:

You may use the Duplicate Certifications section of our website to order copies of your certification cards.  Simply click on the Duplicate Certifications tab and follow the instructions.
